HI, I'M DON.
I'M A NORTHWEST INDIANA FIRST RESPONDER EMT, A CROWN POINT PARENT, AND SOMEBODY WHO HAS ALWAYS ENJOYED MAKING THINGS.
Hats, T-shirts, patches and custom apparel are things I genuinely enjoy creating. Over time, I started looking for a way to turn more of that creativity into a small business of my own.
The challenge was finding a business that actually fit real life. Working a rotating shift schedule means my workdays, weekends and time off don't always look like everyone else's. Constant one-off custom orders can be difficult to manage around long shifts and family.
So I started thinking about a model that could work with my schedule instead of constantly competing with it. That's when the fundraising idea started to make sense.
NOT ANOTHER
ORDINARY FUNDRAISER.
If I was going to build something around fundraising, I wanted it to feel different from the fundraisers we've all seen a hundred times.
I didn't want catalogs, generic products, order forms or boxes of merchandise an organization had to figure out how to distribute.
The idea was simpler: create a hat people actually want to wear, give the organization an easy online fundraiser, make Pickup Day part of the experience, and put a meaningful portion from every hat sold back into the organization.
BECAUSE THIS IS HOME.
I live here. I work here. I'm raising my family here. These are the schools, teams, first responders and community organizations that are part of everyday life in Northwest Indiana.
Region Hat Co. wasn't created to be another giant national fundraising platform. The goal is to build something here — personal, hands-on and connected to the organizations and people around us.
